I am the co-founder and CEO of Oscar, the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members.
Prior to co-founding Oscar in 2012, I was the co-founder and chief scientist of the at the time largest social gaming company in Latin America, leading the company’s analytics and game design practice. I used to work as a senior investment associate at Bridgewater Associates, the largest global macro hedge fund in the world, developing analytical trading models. Before that, I worked as a consultant at Mckinsey & Company in Europe, the U.S. and Brazil.
I was also previously a visiting scholar in computer science at Stanford University, where I wrote a whole bunch of publications, including one of the most-cited computer science papers since its publication in 2003. In the paper, my co-authors and I developed an algorithm we called Eigentrust, which enables a convergent, distributed calculation of trust scores in dynamic networks.
Today, I focus on the big things we’re tackling at Oscar, and I talk about what we’re doing and why we choose to do it.
